Javier Rebollo nace en Madrid. En el año 2006, rueda en coproducción con Francia el largometraje, Lo que sé de Lola / Ce que je sais de Lola, protagonizado por Lola Dueñas, Michaël Abiteboul y Carmen Machi. Se estrena en la Sección Oficial a Concurso del Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián. La película ha sido nominada al Goya a la Mejor Dirección Novel y ha obtenido una gran repercusión crítica (es elegida por el conjunto de críticos reunidos anualmente por El Cultural de El Mundo entre las cinco mejores películas del año). Participa en cincuenta festivales internacionales y, entre otros, gana el Premio FIPRESCI de la crítica internacional en el London Film Festival (Inglaterra), el Gran Premio del Festival Internacional de Cine de Seúl (Corea), el Premio Julio Verne a la Mejor Película en el Festival de Cine Español de Nantes, el Gran Premio del Festival de Cine de Marsella (Francia), el Premio al Mejor Director en los festivales de Montevideo (Uruguay) y Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia), y el Premio a la Mejor Ópera Prima en los festivales de Tudela (España), Guadalajara (México), MadridImagen (España) y Chicago Latino (EEUU).
Javier Rebollo was born in Madrid. In 2006, in co-production with France, he directed the feature film Lo que sé de Lola/ Ce que je sais de Lola (What I Know About Lola), starring Lola Dueñas, Michaël Abiteboul and Carmen Machi. The film was premiered as part of the Official Selection of the San Sebastián International Film Festival (Spain). The film was nominated for a Goya for Best New Director, and has received high praise from critics (it was deemed one of the best 5 films of the year by a group of critics who meet annually on behalf of El Cultural from Spanish newspaper El Mundo). It has been shown in 50 international festivals and, among other things, won the FIPRESCI Award for international critique at the London Film Festival, the Grand Prize at the Seul International Film Festival (South Korea), the Prix Jules Verne for the Best Film at the Spanish Film Festival in Nantes, the Grand Prize at the Marseille Film Festival (France), the award for Best Director at the Montevideo (Uruguay) and Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia) Film Festivals, and the Prize for the Best Directoral Debut at the Tudela (Spain), Guadalajara (Mexico), MadridImagen (Spain), and Chicago Latino (USA) Film Festivals.
