Enmedio es… Somos un grupo de profesionales de la imagen (diseñadores, fotógrafas, cineastas, artistas) que, insatisfechos por la falta de conexiones entre el arte y la acción política, hemos decidido abandonar nuestro terreno habitual de trabajo y situarnos enmedio, en ningún lugar determinado y en todos a la vez. Desde aquí exploramos la potencia transformadora de las imágenes y los relatos. Lo hacemos mediante espectaculares intervenciones, usando todo aquello que tenemos a nuestra disposición: fotografía, medios de comunicación, diseño…, así es como creamos interferencias en el relato dominante; interrupciones en la explicación oficial del mundo.

Enmedio is… We are a group of image professionals (designers, photographers, film directors, artists) who, fed up with the nonexistent relationship between art and political action, decided to abandon our natural habitat of work and to put ourselves enmedio (in the midst of) no place in particular and everywhere, all at the same time. We explore the transformative potential of the image and story. We do so through spectacular interventions, using everything at our disposition: photography, mediums, design…, that is how we create noise in the dominate narrative; interruptions in the official explication of the world.

ColaBoraBora is an island situated between impertinent realidad and projected desire where different actions and processes occur. The goal is the creation of distinct types of connection, organization, production, and consumption regarding the common, the free and the open.
It is a paradise in the process of exploration, populated by an emerging, heterogeneous, inclusive and transformative community. They come together to discuss initiatives that are socially transformative and begin with the daily, the small, the close, and the emotional. It is a space of encounter and facilitation, a common point of reference from where it is possible to met-to act-to learn-to resarch-to experiment-to reflect-to work-to celebrate collectively. It is a place where we can brainstorm how to integrate economical activities into their social and human contexts, fostering a rich, sustainable and accesible public domain, in a time where defining and implicating oneself is inevitable.

El Patio Maravillas es se ha concebido desde sus inicios como un espacio desde el que construir democracia, desde el que generar otra política. En este sentido hemos tratado de organizarnos en forma de red, centrándonos en el hacer, en lo material y no tanto en la identidad, intentando subvertir el eje “izquierda-derecha” y sustituirlo por el eje “arriba-abajo”. Con la explosión del 15M, el Patio como laboratorio para esa otra democracia se desborda, se queda pequeño. La intensidad de lo que lo atraviesa es más fuerte que nunca y sabemos que lo más importante que tenemos no se perderá por un desalojo, porque lo que hemos construido es una forma de andar y una comunidad.
Quién ha experimentado la autogestión, la autonomía, la potencia del común, difícilmente olvida que las cosas se pueden organizar de otra manera. En este sentido el Patio Maravillas huye de si mismo para transformarse en una infraestructura al servicio de lo que está sucediendo, una herramienta al servicio de la nueva democracia que se está construyendo en las calles.
Since the beginning, el Patio Maravillas has been a space where we can make democracy and generate a new politics. In this sense, we have tried to organize ourselves into a network, concentrating doings and physical things rather than on how we identify ourselves. We therefore try to replace the «left-right» polarization with «above-below». With the explosion of the 15M movement, el Patio as a laboratory for a different kind of democracy was no longer enough. The intensity of the moment is stronger than ever, and we know that the most important things we have will not get lost in the shuffle, because what we have created is a new way of walking, and a community.
Whoever has experienced self-management, autonomy, and the power of the majority will not easily forgot that life can be organized in a different manner. In this sense, el Patio Maravillas escapes from itself in order to become an infrastructure that serves what is happening and a tool to serve the new democracy that is being created in the streets.

La Europa en que vivimos atraviesa hoy una realidad volátil. El deterioro económico y la disolución industrial sufridos durante las últimas décadas han devastado el panorama social y económico de nuestras ciudades y zonas rurales. En consecuencia, un sinfín de infraestructuras industriales y fábricas permanecen vacías e inactivas. El sector público por su parte también ha abandonado edificios y solares. La amenaza constante al Estado del Bienestar ha producido reducciones palpables en servicios como educación, sanidad y cultura. Y, paradójicamente, esta atmósfera resulta empoderadora para que la ciudadanía reclame su propio espacio y patrimonio, formulando roles innovadores en la producción y consumo de la cultura y el espacio público.

The Europe of today is living a volatile reality. Severe economic blight and the industrial dissolution suffered over several decades have devastated the social and economic outlook of our cities and rural areas. Consequently, many industrial buildings and factories are left empty and unused; the public sector also has abandoned buildings and lots. Basic services like education, health and culture are cut as the Welfare State is contested. Paradoxically, this atmosphere has empowered citizens to reclaim their own environments and heritage, taking innovative roles in their production and consumption of culture and public space.
