Nuestro taller con Cecilia Barriga comenz\u00f3 con una introducci\u00f3n a su formaci\u00f3n como cineasta, incluyendo una presentaci\u00f3n de la historia de su trabajo. Los estudiantes participando en el taller aprendieron sobre su enfoque general para la realizaci\u00f3n de documentales, a saber, su manera de filmar desde el punto de vista de una observadora de la humanidad. En el segundo d\u00eda del taller, los estudiantes asistieron a una proyecci\u00f3n de su documental Tres Instantes, Un Grito<\/em> (Three Instants, A Shout<\/em>). Este evento fue abierto a todo el campus como parte del Foro Internacional de Cine en Carleton, y le sigui\u00f3 una sesi\u00f3n de preguntas y respuestas con Barriga. En el \u00faltimo d\u00eda del taller, los estudiantes compartieron sus reflexiones finales con Barriga.<\/p>\n

Our workshop with Cecilia Barriga began with an introduction to her background as a filmmaker, including a presentation of the history of her work. Students participating in the workshop learned about her general approach to documentary filmmaking, namely how she films from the perspective of an observer of humanity. On the second day of the workshop, students attended a screening of her documentary Three Instants, A Shout (Tres Instantes, Un Grito). This screening was open to the entire campus as part of Carleton\u2019s International Film Forum and was followed by a Q&A session with Barriga. Students were given the task of watching the film closely, keeping note of scenes particularly relevant to their personal lives and understanding of the current historical moment, especially in relation to capitalism, social movements, community and political change. Students in the workshop also attended a talk about the deeply political nature of her work, which is strongly present in her work despite it being mostly observational in nature. On the last day of the workshop, students shared their final reflections with Barriga.<\/p>\n
