«Next» explora el mundo de las niñas y adolescentes – desde los 6 a los 16 años – que se mudan a Los Angeles para perseguir un sueño universal: conseguir ser actrices famosas. Todos los días llegan al aeropuerto de Los Ángeles, felices y contentas, ensayando audiciones en la cola del supermercado. Vienen de ciudades del medio oeste en donde nunca pasa nada. Los padres de estas niñas a veces las empujan y a veces las siguen en este camino improbable. Las llevan a audiciones y a ver agentes y a rodajes y a clases de actuación. Alquilan habitaciones en moteles y luego se mudan a apartamentos temporales en los que todo es temporal, en una ciudad temporal llena de gente temporal. Están buscando su trozo del pastel, ese sueño Americano dulce y pringoso que todos los días nos prometen en televisión. (Source)
Next explores the world of young girls – 6 TO 16 – who move to Los Angeles to pursue an universal dream: become actresses, become famous, become successful. They arrive to LA, running happily around their mothers, they rehearse their monologues in supermarket lines. They come from Midwest towns in which not much ever happens. Sometimes pushing them and sometimes being dragged by them, their parents run after those young starlettes. They drive them to auditions and agents and shootings and acting lessons. They rent rooms in motels and then they move to temporary apartments in which everything is temporary, in a temporary city made of temporary people. They are looking for their piece of the cake, the sweet and soft American dream that we promise on TV everyday. (Source)

El Cangrejo, the legendary bar of the Raval area of Barcelona, has been the birth alma mater of two of the city’s most cherished and admired icons of this era; Carmen Amaya the goddess of flamenco and Carmen de Mairena the queen of drag and kitschness personified. Some would say that each stands in contradiction to the other’s art, but in El Cangrejo both have come together, each an elaborate embodiment of entertainment, to launch their art. A partir de una premisa: «Cuál fue la primera vez que oí hablar de Franco», seis jóvenes directores realizan una pieza sobre la propia memoria y el recuerdo personal. La suma de sus miradas compone una reflexión plural sobre nuestra historia. Una revisión del legado y la pervivencia, evidente o subterránea, de la figura de Francisco Franco. Una mirada sobre el presente para encontrar en él las claves del pasado y para entender un mundo donde la figura de los dictadores sigue siendo lamentablemente vigente. Beginning with the questions: «When was the first time I heard about Franco?», six young film directores construct a piece on remembering and personal memory. Together they reflect on Spain’s history. It is a rethinking of the legacy and and memory, acknowledged or ignored, of Francisco Franco. They look to the present to find the keys to the past, and to come to understand a world where dictators, regrettably, are still very much present. A film exercise, it is reminder that we mustn’t ever forget.

Exótico, -ca; extranjero, peregrino, especialmente si procede de país lejano. En la Plaza de la Djemáa, Marrakech, turistas y locales se entrecruzan a la hora de la puesta de sol. Exótico intenta examinar con humor esa nueva frontera que tal vez refleja la verdadera estructura de clases de la sociedad globalizada: aquella entre los turistas y los que no podrán serlo nunca. Entre el que no saldrá nunca de su país y el que por afición visita países más auténtico. (Source)
Exotic: of foreign origin, not native, introduced from abroad. In the djemaa or town square in Marrakech, tourists and locals mingle at sunset. Exótico/Exotic explores in a humorous tone the new border that seems to reflect the true class structure of the globalised society, the line between tourists and people who will never be able to travel abroad.
