Ana Merino es Profesora Asociada en el Departamento de Español y Portugués en la Universidad de Iowa, donde se especializa en la escritura creativa. También trabaja en La Crítica de Cómics y Novelas gráficas, Representaciones Testimoniales y teorías de La Pobreza y Marginalidad Infantil. Ha publicado siete libros de poesía, una novela para jóvenes, un libro académico sobre los cómics y numerosos artículos y ensayos. Su poesía ha sido traducida a varios idiomas y está incluida en más que veinte colecciones. Actualmente está trabajando en un libro académico sobre las representaciones de la infancia marginal y también en un proyecto con el artista Félix de la Concha que se centra en la memoria del Holocausto y sus sobrevivientes. Merino es miembro de la Junta Directiva del Center for Cartoon Studies. En el verano de 2010, Merino creó el Spanish Creative Literacy Project (SCLP) (el proyecto de alfabetización creativa española), como un proyecto de compromiso a través del Programa de Graduados en Español y el iniciativo universitario del Departamento de Español y Portugués.
Ana Merino is an Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of Iowa, specializing in Creative Writing. She also works on Comics and Graphic Novels Criticism, Testimonial Representations and theories of Childhood Poverty and Marginality. She has published seven books of poetry, a youth novel, a scholarly book on comics and numerous articles and essays. Her poetry has been translated into several languages and is included in more than twenty collections. Currently she is working on a scholarly book about the representations of marginal childhood and is working on a project with artist Félix de la Concha that focuses on the memory of the Holocaust and its Survivors. Merino is a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Cartoon Studies. In the summer of 2010 Merino created the Spanish Creative Literacy Project (SCLP) as an outreach project through the Spanish MFA and the undergraduate Spanish Creative Writing initiative at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
