Lina es una anciana campesina del norte de Italia. Su espalda está curvada y mira hacia la tierra. Cada mañana, al alba, llega al mercado al aire libre más grande de Europa, Porta Palazzo, en el centro de Turín, donde vende su verdura y sus fresas. Un día en el mercado, entra en escena Hassan, un joven inmigrante marroquí recién llegado a Italia en busca de trabajo…
El lugar de las fresas es la historia de estos personajes, filmada durante siete años a través de la mirada de una joven cineasta española, en un lugar común y universal, como es un mercado al aire libre. Pero sobre todo, es una película poética, que muestra al público el valor más esencial y puro del ser humano, a través del trabajo de la tierra.

Lina is an elderly peasant from the north of Italy. Her back is curved and she gazes at the ground. Every morning, at dawn, she comes to the largest open air market in Europe, Porta Palazzo, in the middle of Turín, where she sells her vegetables and her strawberries. The life of Lina is, as she says… «home, church and work». Lina doesn’t have children, but she does have five dogs and her husband Gianni, who wants her to stop working.
One day in the market, Hassan enters the scene, a young Moroccan immigrant recently arrived to Italy in search of work…
El lugar de las fresas (The Place of the Strawberries) is the story of these characters, filmed over seven years through the gaze of a young Spanish filmmaker, in a common and universal place: an open air market. But above all, it’s a poetic movie, that shows the public the most essential and pure value of the human being, through the work of the earth.
